Addis Ababa, April 28, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Easter, one of the holydays of the Christian religion, was celebrated peacefully in Addis Ababa City and across the country without man-made or natural accidents, the federal and the Addis Ababa city police commission indicated.

The faithful celebrated Easter across Ethiopia colorfully and peacefully since the eve of the holyday, public affairs and relations service head with the federal police commission, Commander Demsash Hailu told ENA on Monday.

Similarly, followers of the Christian religion were able to celebrate the first Easter of the Ethiopian millennium without any problem, public relations and civil service reform service head with the Addis Ababa Police Commission, Inspector Abrham Zeleke told ENA.

Inspector Abrham said city dwellers celebrated the holyday this year even without minor mishaps like theft and car accidents which were frequent during the previous holydays.

The officials attributed the success mainly to the active participation of the public toward prevention and control of criminal activities.
