Woreda to establish community radio station
Assossa, April 19, 2008 (Assosa) - A community radio station is to be established in Debrezeit town of the Wombera Woreda, Metekel Zone of the Benishangul Gumuz State, the woreda administration said.

Chief of the woreda administration, Geleta Chaka told ENA recently that the establishment of the radio aims at providing reliable and dependable information to public on various issues.

The woreda administration has already constructed a building meant for the community radio station at a cost of 15,000 Birr, he said, an international humanitarian organization also donated 500,000 Birr for the procurement of the necessary equipment.

The establishment of the radio would play crucial role in disseminating information on national agendas besides complementing on-going efforts toward prevention and control of communicable diseases.

According to the chief, the new radio station would also contribute a lot in curbing the problem of unemployment in the town.
