Meles confers with UN Secretary General in New York
Addis Ababa, April 18, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minster Meles Zenawi during his stay in New York held discussions with United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.

The discussion focused on Ethio-Eritrea border disputes, Ambassador Negash Kibret, Ethiopian Deputy Permanent Representative at the UN, who attended the discussion said.

Prime Minster Meles confirmed to Ban Ki Moon that Ethiopia is ready to resolve its border conflict with Eritrea peacefully.

Meles said the UN Security Council should not be reluctant on Eritrea’s anti-peace activities including banning of the UN peace keeping force.

Meles has also discussed with U.S. Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Jenday Frazer and Somalia President Abdulahi Yesuf on issues of common concern.

Meles returned home later on Thursday after attending NEPAD Extraordinary Summit in Senegal, and the joint meeting of Peace and Security Council of the African Union and the United Nations Security Council held in New York.
