Addis Ababa, April 16, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has arrived in New York to attend the joint meeting of the African Union and the United Nations Peace and Security Councils.Prime Minister Meles earlier chaired the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) implementation committee meet held in Dakar, Senegal.
The Dakar summit deliberated on activities undertaken and problems encountered after the Algiers summit on NEPAD.
Prime Minister Meles and representatives of South Africa, Algeria, Nigeria and Egypt discussed the structural amendments forwarded by Senegal.
Recalling that the executive of NEPAD can not pass decisions alone, the discussants have agreed on the issues that they found in harmony with the decisions of the AU.
Based on the decision passed earlier to integrate the different components of NEPAD with the AU, agreements have been reached to entertain amendment ideas forwarded earlier or due to be forwarded in the future, Ethiopian Ambassador to Senegal, Hasan Abdulkadir said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Meles has arrived to New York late on Tuesday to attend the first joint meeting of the AU Peace and Security Council and the United Nations Peace and Security Council, Ethiopian Radio and Television reported.
