Addis Ababa, April 15, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The summit of New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) was started in Dakar, Senegal on Tuesday.Prime Minister Meles Zenawi chairs the NEPAD summit that holds discussions on poverty, underdevelopment, democracy and sustainable economic growth in the African continent.
The summit is expected to delibrate on the performances of various committees established to attain the objectives of NEPAD.
President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, South Africa's Thabo Mbeki, Nigeria's Umaru Mussa Yar'Adua have also converged at the summit
Up on his arrival at the Dakar airport, Prime Minister Meles was welcomed by President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal and members of the Ethiopian community in Senegal, Ethiopian Radio reported.
The Dakar meeting was decided by the African Union in June, last year, during the Heads of State's summit in Accra, Ghana.
