Alexandrian Pope Shinoda III arrives here
Addis Ababa, April 11, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - His Holiness Pope Shinoda III of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark arrived here on Friday to pay a three- day official visit to Ethiopia.

Patriarchs and followers of Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC) and senior government officials warmly welcomed Pope Shinoda III up on his arrival at the Bole International Airport.

His Holiness Pope Shinoda III is here to visit Ethiopia and the Church in accordance with the invitation forwarded to him by EOC's Patriarch His Holiness Abune Paulos, who is also President of the World Council of Churches.

Priests and the faithful have also warmly welcomed the Pope at the Holly Trinity Cathedral here in the capital.

During his stay here, the Pope is expected to discuss with EOC's Patriarch His Holiness Abune Paulos, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and President Girma Woldegiorgis.

He would also visit various religious and historical places here.

It is recalled that Abune Paulos has visited the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria in July 2007.

The Patriarch first visited Ethiopia in 1966 E.C.
