Youth taking part in 7.5 mln Birr safety-net program
Debretabor, April 10, 2008 (Debretabor) - Youth in Ga’aint woreda of South Gondar zone are engaged in various development works under the safety-net program, woreda agriculture and rural development office announced.

Food security and disaster prevention team leader with the office, Se'tae Abdi told ENA recently that the youth in the woreda are engaged in development activities with over 7.5 million Birr earmarked for the implementation of the program.

Accordingly, more than 680 landless youth in seven kebelles of the woreda are engaged in crop production, animal husbandry, carpentry, textile as well as small and micro scale businesses.

The team leader said that loan service and appropriate training have been offered with a view to enabling the youth successful in the fields they are engaged in.

Preparations are also underway to engage more than 1,500 youth and farmers who are exposed to food insecurity in different income generating schemes, he added.
