Addis Ababa, April 9, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the government of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) here on Wednesday signed an agreement to jointly work in various health issues.The agreement focuses on bringing DPRK health professionals here and manufacture medicines by establishing a health centre.
State Minister of Health, Dr. Kebede Worku and DPRK Ambassador to Ethiopia Ri Song Mok signed the agreement.
Some 248 North Korean health professionals would be deployed to various parts of Ethiopia soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kebede said the agreement would further shore up the good relation between the governments and peoples of the two countries.
The agreement would last for five years, he said, and added that North Korean professionals would stay here for three years.
The Ambassador for his part said his government is desirous to work jointly with the Ethiopian government.
The cooperation between the two countries would be continued in a strengthened manner.
The health service to be provided by North Korean professionals would contribute a lot in the efforts Ethiopia is making in the sector.
