Awassa, April 8, 2008 (Awassa) - An economist at the Addis Ababa University said that improving the marketing system in the country is crucial in an effort to stabilize the high rate inflation in a sustainable manner.In a research paper presented at a meeting organized by the graduating class of the economics department of the Hawasa University on Monday,Dr. Haile Kibret said that there are lots of causes for the high rate inflation occurred in the country.
Soaring price of raw materials and commodities being imported from abroad, population growth and unemployment are among the causes of the inflation, according to Dr. Haile.
The free economic system that is not based on fair competition has also contributed for the sky rocketing price of consumer goods, he said.
Scholars at the Hawasa University, students and other invited guests attended the discussion.
