Church constructing 40 million Birr buildings
Jimma, September 29, 2007 (Jimma) - The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is constructing three modern complex buildings for college and other use in Jimma town at a cost of 40 million Birr.

Manager of the Jimma dioceses Berhanu Getu told ENA that two of the building the church is constructing on over 7,000 square meters of land are seven-storey buildings.

The buildings have rooms for secondary school and colleges, business complex, hall, and other services, he said adding the construction of the buildings would be completed after two years.

The construction of the buildings has created job opportunities for several youth in addition to contributing to the city’s beauty, he added.

The church has constructed a primary school and kindergarten at a cost of 1.2 million Birr, he added.

He said HIV/AIDS prevention and counseling service is being given at the 265 of the churches in the Jimma synod and added that more than 200,000 tree seedlings have been transplanted at the premises of the churches in connection with the millennium celebration.
