QSAE says International Accreditation Certificate adds value to Ethiopian export products
Addis Ababa, September 29, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Quality and Standards Authority of Ethiopia (QSAE) said the International Accreditation Certificate for Mass and Temperature Calibration it obtained last August would enable Ethiopia get better image among the international community in the field of quality calibration.

QSAE Public Relations and Education Service Head, Sisay Assefae told ENA that the accreditation certificate, which is the first in the accreditation history of QSAE, and the country, would help the efforts being made to develop the country both socially and economically.

The head said the accreditation would also play due role to identify substandard products a cornerstone for effective customers’ needs satisfaction such as provision of quality services on mass and temperature calibration.

The accreditation given in mass calibration, according to the head, would also play due role in improving efficiency of trade and industry bureaus, branches of the QSAE as well as other mass calibration service providers in the country.

Similarly, the accreditation in temperature calibration is believed to contribute a lot for the country's economic development through ensuring quality of export products, the head added.

Capacity to provide internationally recognized calibration and inspection is one of the requirements expected from a country to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Accordingly, he said the International Accreditation Certificate QSAE obtained recently would enable it play better role in the ongoing economic and social development efforts in the country.

QSAE received an international accreditation certificate from the German Accreditation Service (DKD) last August.
