Addis Ababa, September 8, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ministry of Information (MoI) said it is the right time for the international community to take appropriate measure against the destabilizing acts of the Eritrean government. In a release issued on Saturday, the Ministry said the Eritrean government has begun openly pursuing its strategy of destabilizing Somalia and the region, which it had previously been implementing behind the curtain.
After enormous sacrifice, peace and stability have prevailed in Somalia, which had been ravaged by internal conflict for more than 16 years, the Ministry said, and added that the successful conclusion of the national peace and reconciliation conference that brought together former rival factions is an indicator that lawlessness and instability are coming to an end in Somalia.
The release further said that as there are countries like Somalia, Ethiopia and Uganda that are striving and paying the necessary sacrifice to end sorrows of the Somali people, there are forces like the fundamentalists and the Eritrean government that are being driven by heinous motives and working to sustain the misery of the Somali people.
At the very moment when the international community has clearly identified the terrorist nature of the Eritrean government, the release said, the Eritrean government has brought together and is conferring in Asmara with few scattered members of the Union of Islamic Courts.
Such a destructive act of the Eritrean government fully revealed and publicized the terrorist acts of the Eritrean government, which it had been conducting behind the curtain, previously.
However, the release said, such terrorist attempts of the Eritrean government would not avert the ongoing developments in Somalia at any rate.
Accordingly, the ministry urged the international community to provide the necessary support to the political developments being witnessed in Somalia in a bid to ensure attainment of the desired success.
