Jijjiga-Degehabur asphalt road enables to strengthen development
Somali State, October 31, 2007 (jijiga) - The 165-km Jijjiga-Degehabur asphalt road being constructed at a cost of over 200 million Birr enables to strengthen on-going development activities in Somali State, Chief Administrator of Degehabur Zone in the state said.

Ibrahim Abdi told ENA on Wednesday that the road being constructed by the Ethiopian Roads Authority significantly contributes in the efforts to speed up development in the state.

He said the road would also contribute its share in the on-going activities launched by the government to explore natural gas in the area.

Ibrahim said the work on over 125-km of the road, launched in 1994 E.C., has so far been finalized. He said efforts were underway to finalize the work on the remaining part of the road.
