Addis Ababa, October 31, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethio-France centenary is to be celebrated with various events pas part of the new Ethiopian millennium celebrations as of 31 Oct. 2007, the French Embassy in Ethiopia said. Renowned French investors are to come to Ethiopia soon in connection with the celebration to witness the trade and investment options in the country, according to the embassy.
Speaking at special event held on the premise of the French Embassy in Addis Ababa, French Ambassador to Ethiopia Stephane Gompertz said on Tuesday the Ethio-France centenary would be celebrated for the coming one year with various events that include exhibition, concerts, and seminars.
The ambassador said France is assisting Ethiopia in safe water provisions and other sectors through the ‘French agency for international development’.
The Embassy in collaboration of the Addis Ababa University is providing French language courses to many Ethiopians, he said, the embassy has plans to open ‘Alliance Ethio-Francaise Institutions’ in Bahir Dar and Mekele towns.
The ambassador said Ethiopia has become a model to African countries since the country has been registering 10 percent annual economic growth on average for the last consecutive four years.
The second councilor with the embassy, Dominique Gautier on his part said the embassy is closely working together with mass media in order to enhance cooperation that exist between the two sisterly countries.
