Addis Ababa, October 31, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Other Face of Ethiopia (TOFOE), a non governmental organization announced that a groundbreaking ceremony would be held for the launching of “Remember the Battle of Adwa,” project in Adwa town on Thursday.The ceremony would be attended by senior Ethiopian government officials, officials of the African Union and European Union.
Director General of TOFOE, Sabela Berehane told ENA on Wednesday that the project due to be implemented in collaboration with the Tigray State government has the objective of constructing a center that shows the culture and history of Adwa.
The glorious and historic victory of Adwa was scored with the unity and determination of the Ethiopian nations and nationalities, the Director General said and noted that the center would serve the purpose of inspiring the young generation towards speeding up development.
The victory of Adwa is considered as the flagship and victory of all peace loving people in the world, Sabela said and stressed the need for using the Adwa victory in building the good faces of Ethiopia.
“Remember the Battle of Adwa,” project in this regard plays vital role, she said and urged pertinent bodies to play role for the realization of the objectives of the project.
Ethiopia and AU's flags would be waved at the spot where the cornerstone of the project would be laid.
Plan has been set to wave flags of 54 African nations on the celebration of the anniversary of the Adwa victory.
