Czeck, Slovak Ambassadors Express Happiness Over Founding of Their Lost Citizens
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - Ambassadors of Czech and Slovak to Ethiopia expressed their happiness over the finding of six of their citizens, who were lost in a jungle while on expedition in one of the remote localities of Ethiopia.

Ambassadors of Czeck and Slovak. Zdenek Dobias and Milan Cigan respectively, along with the already found six-member expedition team told ENA on Friday that they were happy their compatriots were found alive thanks to maximum efforts of the Ethiopian government and local community.

The expedition team members were lost in a jungle in a remote locality called Shema, south of Ethiopia.

They said they were forced to quit their expedition due to the difficulty to go further with their boats along the river called Denchia, a tributary to River Omo.

Then, they said, they were lost in nearby jungle and called for Czeck embassy in Addis Ababa for help.

The members of the team said local people who found them at the jungle supplied them with food.

They said Ethiopia is beautiful and is endowed with various tourist attractions.

The ambassadors on their part thanked the Ethiopian government and the local people for the swift measures they have taken to trace whereabouts of the expedition team mebers.

The expedition team said on their part said it was an exemplary deed done in particular by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send rescue team assisted by a helicopter to search for them.

They said they were happy that they were the first to explore Danchia river.

The members of the team also expressed their respect to the good hospitality they got from Ethiopians.

Senior executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the occasion that the disappearance of the expedition team was a great concern for the Ethiopian government.

However, they said, it was managed to trace the whereabouts of the expedition team in a short period of time thanks to the relentless efforts made by the government.

Meanwhile, other expedition team would leave for the same locality soon, according to the ambassadors.
