Authority designs master plan to control illegal drug trafficking, use
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethiopian Drug Administration and Control Authority said it has designed a five-year master plan that would enable to control illegal drug trafficking and use.

Civil service reform and public relations head, Amare Assefa told ENA on Thursday that the master plan would be implemented as of the current Ethiopian year.

The master plan aims at evaluating the condition of illegal drug trafficking and utilization in the country thereby achieving the ongoing activities to prevent and control the problem.

Amare said Ethiopia has accepted three international agreements with a view to controlling illegal drug trafficking.

Various efforts are being made to raise the awareness of the public on the issue by designing new polices, amending existing laws and organizing executive bodies at every level.

The authority has also prepared the first national drug formulary that would be utilized by health institutions and professionals at all levels, the head said.

The formulary would enable health institutions and professionals all over the country to get swift information.
