State enrolls 117,000 school age children
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - Some 117,000 school age children have begun attending classes in Tigray State during the current academic year, the state education bureau said.

Planning and Statistics team leader with the bureau, Gebremedhin Messel told ENA on Thursday that the children began attending classes following the efforts exerted to enroll all school age children in the new Ethiopian millennium.

Parents, teachers and executive bodies at various levels contributed share in the efforts to enroll the children.

The number of children enrolled in the current academic year exceeded by 7,000 that of the number of students enrolled same time in the previous academic year.
