Corruptor receives 10 years behind bars
Addis Ababa, October 24, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Second Criminal Bench of the High Court handed out ten years of rigorous imprisonment to corruptor on October 23, 2007, the Federal Ethics and Anti -Corruption Commission said.

In a release it sent to ENA on Wednesday that FEACC said the convict Eyob Bekele, who was Registration Desk head with Immigration and Nationality Affaire main Department, received the sentence for issuing forged passport to Seada Nasir Hassen and demanding in return 80,000 Birr.

The charge brought to him by FEACC explains that the convict issued Seada a forged passport under the name Helen Bedru Hassen, by changing her real name that appears on her original passport in the absence of any legal evidence that proved she had changed her name.

The convict had failed to refute the evidence corroborated against him by the prosecutor of the FEACC, it was learned.

FEACC said the court sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and stripped him of public right for three years.
