ERA finalizes 80- percent of Alem Ketema-Akesta road project
Addis Ababa, October 22, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) announced that more than 80 percnet of work on the construction of the 154 kilometers Alem Ketema-Akesta road, that was launched with 238 million Birr budget, has been finalized. Some 182 million Birr has so far been spent on the project.

Information and Public Relations Service Head with the Authority, Samson Womdimu told ENA on Monday that construction of the road is being carried out in two directions, while the 40 kilometers Meragna Degolo road has already begun providing service.

The head said that some 80 percent of the project has already been finalized, and added that the Authority has set plans to carry out construction of the remaining 25 kilometers road during the current budget year.

Construction of 17 kilometers new road and an 80 meters bridge across the Betto road has been included in the project, he added.

Samson said construction of the Betto Bridge is believed to bring people in South Wollo and Nor4th Shoa zone closer.

Meanwhile construction of eight bridges along the root would be launched during the current budget year.
