Harar secures over 20.8 million Birr income from tourism
Harar, October 18, 2007 (Harar) - An over 20.8 million Birr income was secured from tourists, who visited Harar Town last year, the Harari State Culture, Tourism and Information Bureau said.

Tourism Department Head with the Bureau, Abdulnasir Idris told ENA on Thursday that the income was secured from over 34,000 local and foreign tourists, who visited the town during the reported period.

About 12,000 people were reported to be local tourists.

The income secured from foreign visitors during the reported period exceeded by 382 per cent compared to that of last year while that of the number of tourists by 198 per cent.

Promotional works and the 1000th anniversary of the town were attributed to the increase in the number of tourists visiting the town.

Most of the foreign tourists, who visit the town, came from Europe, U.S.A, Asia and Australia.
