Jimma University graduates over 1,100 students with degrees, advanced diplomas
Jimma, November 10, 2007 (Jimma) - The Jimma University graduated more than 1,100 students with degrees and advanced diplomas on Saturday.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, University Registrar, Dr. Taye Teklemariam said the graduates were trained in medicine, agriculture, veterinary, business and law.

Some 64 of the students were graduated with Doctoral degrees.

University President Dr. Kaba Urgesa after handing over degrees and diplomas for the graduates said since they were graduated at a time when the public and government show commitment to reduce poverty, the students shoulder the responsibility of accelerating the country’s development in all aspects.

The University has graduated 946 medical doctors and 242 lawyers over the past eight years alone, he added.

Founder and Chairman of the Children s Heart Fund of Ethiopia, Dr. Belay Abegaz, whio was guest of honor of the ceremony, urged the graduates to make all efforts to candidly serve the public with the knowledge they acquired through training.
