AfDB, ECA to host 2nd African Economic conference
Addis Ababa, November 10, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The African Development bank (AfDB) and the Economic Commission For Africa (ECA) are to organize the 2nd African Economic conference from 15-17 November 2007 at the UN conference Center in Addis Ababa.

In a statement ECA sent to ENA on Saturday that the conference would be convened under the theme Opportunity and Challenges of Development for Africa in the Global Arena.

The conference will provide an opportunity for African academics and policy makers to exchanges view on economic development problems and challenges facing Africa.

The president of AfDB, Donald Kaberuka and the Executive Secretary of ECA, Abdoulie Janneh will address the conference.

About 400 participants are expected to attend and 65 papers will be presented at the parallel sessions.

The conference is organized to provide a forum for exchange of ideas among African economists and police makers with a view to improve access to information and research on economic issues and improving the quality of economic policy-making in the region.
