Opening the 5th regular conference of the state council in Semera town on Wednesday, the speaker, Mohammed Kedir said members of the council have been offered various training with a view to effectively discharge duties and responsibilities vested on the council.

The training focused on, among others, basic principles of the constitutions, good governance, conflict resolution, and gender.

The performance of various governmental organizations geared towards development, good governance during the just ended budget year was encouraging.

The three-day conference would discuss on the performance of 1999 budget execution, report of the state Supreme Court and chief auditor.

The council is expected to discuss and approve plan and budget of 2000 E.C.

Members of the council, advisory elders for the zonal and state administrations, chief of woredas and representatives of civic association attended the conference.
