Military officers reaffirm commitment to safeguard constitution, national sovereignty
Adama, December 26, 2007 (Adama) - Officers of the National Defense Forces expressed renewed commitments to helping accelerate the on-going development efforts besides safeguarding the constitution and sovereignty of the country.

After visiting the Gelma Abageda convention center and development activities being carried out in Adama city, more than 60 high ranking military officers noted that the national defense forces have been contributing significantly for the ever-expanding development endeavors in the country.

The ongoing development and democratization efforts are indicators of the brighter future of the nation, they said.

The officers further underlined that members of the national defense forces are ready to pay all sacrifices needed to foil the moves of anti peace forces that are meant to disrupt the country's development and democratization efforts.

During a luncheon ceremony thrown in honor of the officers, mayor of Adama city, Sisay Negash said the people take pride in the honorable deeds of the national army, whose sacrifices and vigilance to keep the country's sovereignty intact has made the current economic growth possible.

The military officers visited the monument of the Oromo martyrs, Red Fox flower farm and the Sulula Boset union of mining cooperatives.

Mayor of Adama town presented a gift that features the culture of the Oromo people to the military officers.
