ANDM to nominate over 79,000 candidates for local, by-election in W.Gojam
Bahir Dar, December 26, 2007 (Bahir Dar) - The Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) announced that it would nominate more than 79,000 candidates to run for the upcoming local and by-election in west Gojam zone.

ANDM zonal office head, Dereje Mekonnen said the nominies are efficiently discharging their responsibilities, in their respective fields of work, towards attaining the target set to ensure good governance and democratic order in the new millennium.

He said 11 of the candidates will ran for the vacant seats in the national parliament, while the rest are candidates of seats in towns’ administration, woreda and kebele councils.

Some 50 percent of the candidates are female, he said and added that preparations have been finalized to get the candidates evaluated by the public.
