Addis Ababa, August 31, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - More than 1,500 Ethiopians and Ethiopian Jews in Israel warmly celebrated Ethiopian millennium last week in Israel.The event was coordinated by a committee set up to celebrate the festival in Israel.
In a statement it sent to the Ethiopian News Agency on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that senior Israeli officials, archbishop of Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Israeli and various African ambassadors attended the event.Ethiopian ambassador to Israel, Fiseha Asgedom, representative of the Ethiopian Millennium Festival National Council and mayor of the Bathiya town delivered an opening speech on the celebration.
Research papers that focused on Ethiopia have been presented by renowned scholars.
Ethiopian dressing fashion show has also been staged by renowned Ethiopian models, the statement said.
A photograph exhibition that focused on Ethiopian natural resources, culture and tourist attractions were presented by two Ethiopian Jews.Artifacts bearing Ethiopian and Israeli flags were auctioned, the statement said.
