CARE Ethiopia launches new HIV/AIDS related program
Addis Ababa, August 7, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - CARE Ethiopia, an international NGO, said it has designed a new program aimed at minimizing social and economic impacts of HIV/ AIDS through raising the capacity of governmental and non governmental organizations. Speaking at the launching of the program entitled Getting Ahead”, Urban HIV/ AIDS Projects Manager with the Organization, Dr. Feven Tassew said the project would be implemented in Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar towns.

The program aims at reducing the socio- economic problems faced by more than 120,000 HIV vulnerable women and AIDS orphans.

A one million Euro aid was secured from the European Union for the execution of the three-year project.

The project would undertake activities aimed at raising the capacity of governmental and non-governmental organizations in fighting HIV/ AIDS through implementing transparent, accountable and participatory activities.

Various associations engaged in HIV prevention and control, Idirs, self-help associations, and kebeles in Bole sub-city here in the capital and other pertinent organs attended the launching ceremony.
