Oromia, Benishangul-gumuz get 30 mln Birr books in donation
Addis Ababa, August 7, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethiopian Community Development Council, a US-based non-governmental organization, has donated various kinds of books valued at 30 million Birr to public libraries and educational institutions in Oromia and Benishangul-gumuz states.

Belay Tefera, the Council's representative in Ethiopia, said the donation would play a significant role in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to expand quality education across the regions.

The representative said an agreement was reached to provide 23,000 books to the Oromia state culture and tourism bureau and 18,000 books to the Benishangul-gumze state government.

According to the agreement, the bureau and the state government are expected to distribute the books to public libraries, universities and technical and vocational training colleges in each of the states.
