Ethiopians In Qatar Preparing To Celebrate Millennium Colorfully
Addis Ababa, August 7, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - Ethiopians residing in Qatar are under preparation to celebrate colorfully the new Ethiopian millennium, Chairman of the Ethiopian Millennium Celebration Office in Qatar said.

Abdulhamid Abdella told Ethiopian News Agency on Tuesday that the office was working with Ethiopians residing in Qatar to help them celebrate the millennium with various assortments.

The opening ceremony of the millennium festival was held last June, he said, and added that an event that will display various Ethiopian traditional dances and songs as well as cultural costumes would be organized in the coming September.

Abdulhamid said conducive situations are being facilitated to take people to Qatar who will display Ethiopian cultural costume and perform traditional songs and dances.

He said a soccer match is being held among six teams set up by Ethiopians residing in Qatar as part of the celebration.

The Chairman said dozens of Ethiopians are expected to come home to celebrate the millennium festival, though many would remain in Qatar for the celebration.

More than 7,000 Ethiopians are believed to live in Qatar.
